IMS Jordan for Technical Services, a dynamic startup in Amman, is seeking to fill FOUR open positions for full‐time “Application Engineers”. The positions specifically target fresh graduates; but with the right skills and credentials, it could be extended to senior undergraduate students* approaching graduation. The general framework for these positions will be the application of “optical metrology and advanced sensors” in support of a wide range of industrial applications; work will involve significant use of advanced and specialized software and engineering tools. Prior experience in these areas is NOT essential nor expected; IMS Jordan understands the lack of prior training in this highly specialized field and thus it is ready to provide the proper training and nurturing for the selected candidates. While certain fundamental skills are required for these positions, we strongly focus on the candidate’s readiness to be immersed in a fully hands‐on environment, the drive towards practical learning in a multi‐disciplinary domain, and adaptability to the highly dynamic nature of a startup.
Major Responsibilities:
The four positions will be split into two positions per the two major areas of focus shown below:
⮚ Material, Component & Structural Testing (Two positions): This work will be performed in close ties to FADI‐AMT LLC (Greenville, South Carolina) and will focus on the use of camera systems, sensors and advanced software to support ongoing deformation/motion‐tracking projects. Responsibilities will include the use of specialized software for deformation and motion analysis, data generation and compilation, reporting, software training, and the support of in-house “imaging” software development efforts.
⮚ 3D Scanning & Reverse Engineering (Two positions): This area is focused on the application of optical metrology in the industrial and production sectors. Responsibilities will include supporting the sales of 3D scanning systems, installation and training, and providing software support. More importantly, responsibilities will include field projects to perform 3D scanning and reverse engineering services, as well as developing new markets and applications for this emerging technology. This work will also involve exposure to a suite of specialized software, including scanning, inspection and CAD modeling software.
Desired Candidates:
⮚ Degree: Mechanical Engineering or closely related disciplines (*Current senior students will be also considered for part‐time positions).
⮚ Must have: Strong technical background and understanding of stresses and strains, engineering mechanics, material deformation, and machine design principles. Strong English and communication skills.
⮚ Must Demonstrate: strong drive for quality and extreme attention to details!
⮚ Advantageous: prior experience with cameras & optics, prior practical internships related to machinery and manufacturing, prior hands‐on involvement in engineering student clubs (SAE, ASME, etc).
