ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced, creative, ambitious Senior Manager of Social Media to join our global team. We are looking for somebody to raise the bar and help Careem take its Social Media strategy to the next level, while growing its presence online and establishing an even stronger community of online followers. You will be a member of the central Brand and Reputation team and lead the global Social Media function across 13 markets, with a focus on our global channels. This colleague will be responsible for setting the company’s social strategy, guiding all 13 markets in implementing this strategy, developing creative campaigns and project managing social media across all other global campaigns led by cross functional teams. 

 As Senior Manager of Social Media at Careem you will set the vision of where we want Careem’s social brand to go and how to get there, and act as social champion throughout the organisation. You will set up measurement systems and support markets to deliver on OKRs. You will be responsible for reporting, analysing and actioning any insights for all global channels. You are expected to proactively monitor trends and turn around quickly on creative ad-hoc ideas. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

Design, maintain and implement a global social media strategy that is aligned with the company's strategy as a whole and the comms strategy in specific.
Set an example for MP social media content creation by reflecting central brand guidelines in social media content on Careem’s central pages.
Set global OKRs for Social Media across all channels and areas (incl. Mountain Peaks) and report frequently. 
Develop Playbooks for global campaigns, product launches, global initiatives, and any other centrally-led comms activity. 
Closely collaborate with brand, internal comms, creative, community management and product teams in order to receive and distribute relevant information; act as a monitor of brand guidelines and flag any errors. 
Ensure the security of all social channels, including Mountain Peaks.
Lead on Social for any global communications campaign (Strategy, Content, Reporting)
Develop creative campaigns for global channels. 
Develop social influencer networks in Mountain Peaks and Basecamp.
Present global guidelines and strategies to Mountain Peak Marketing and Social teams, once every quarter. Support adaptation to local needs. 
Ensure setting and achievement of local as well as global OKRs. 
Support synergies across-market borders and sharing best practices.

Performance of content on global accounts
Creativity in developing new content formats that leverage new tools and trends 
Drive influencer engagement across markets 
Effective allocation of budget and performance against pre-agreed performance metrics
Strength of internal relationships – in particular ability to build powerful collaborative connections that drive impact for the business
Reputation and influence of the social team on company strategy


QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED

 

8+ years of social media planning/ social media marketing experience: you have a passion for social media and a deep understanding of design, creative and content strategy.
You’ve built your career in a fast moving, highly dynamic environment, preferably a start-up, telecoms or technology organisation. You have international experience and a global perspective.
Self-driven: you’re exceptionally organised, have unquestionable integrity and great follow through. You don't get overwhelmed easily and prioritise with skill.
Analytical thinking skills: you enjoy strong numeracy and the ability to discern the signal from the noise of social media metrics to objectively measure impact. You can tell simple, compelling stories about what is or isn’t being achieved on social channels.
Commercial and business acumen: you understand how social media can contribute to achieving business objectives and effectively champion its use as a strategic communications channel.
Proficiency in contract and budget management: you’re able to navigate and independently work with a central procurement team to facilitate contracting related to brand content creation, brand executions and product collaborations.
Experience managing (directly or virtually) diverse teams with competing priorities and proficiency in directing the resolution of highly complex business challenges
Strong functional experience (digital experience is essential): you have an exceptional track record of managing teams delivering complex multi-country/ city 360 brand campaigns to drive brand growth.
Along with this deep campaign experience we’re looking for that x-factor combination of hustle, creativity, strategic thinking and passion for social media.
Highly skilled presenter: you’re a natural communicator and strong writer, with exceptional collaboration skills, influencing across markets and cultures to land campaigns
In addition to exceptional discipline expertise and being highly detail-oriented, you are a thinker, a do-er, a go-getter and have a sleepless passion for creativity, and a good sense of humour.
Outstanding written English is a must, working proficiency in Arabic, Urdu or French are all assets.  
Undergraduate degree in Communications/Marketing preferred but not required.
